Colombia

Venezuela’s political and socioeconomic conditions have led to an unprecedented flow of migrants, representing the largest external displacement crisis in the recent history of Latin America. As of June 2024, an estimated 7.7 million Venezuelans had left their country, including more than 2 million children. The majority (about 2.9 million) are living in Colombia, and many have or will continue to other parts of Latin America or the United States.

Sueños en Ruta highlights the stories and experiences of Venezuelan migrant children aged 3-12 and their families who have left their country and come to Colombia. The project, implemented by La Otra Juventud, ChildArise, and IRC, in partnership with Fraternidad Venezolana and Asociacion Palco, implemented a variety of co-creation activities using child-centered participatory methodologies and shared participants’ stories in a variety of formats for different audiences.
